BuckleTime v1 is here
We shipped v1 of BuckleTime, a virtual coworking space for getting stuff done alongside other people. Here's what's live and what we're working on next.
We shipped v1 today. It took longer than we thought it would (it always does), but it’s out and it works and we’re pretty happy about it.
BuckleTime is a virtual coworking space. The idea is simple: you join a room, other people are in there working too, and that makes it easier to stay focused. Same reason people go to libraries and coffee shops, except you don’t have to put pants on.
What you can do right now
You can join focus rooms and work alongside other people in real time. There’s a session timer that tracks your focus time, and you build streaks by showing up consistently. We added achievements too, because honestly, a little “hey, you did 7 days in a row” goes a long way when motivation is low.
You can also create groups if you want to stay accountable with specific people, like a study group or a coworking crew. And there’s a small feature we’re fond of: you can send encouragements to someone mid-session. It’s just a tap, but people seem to like it.
There’s more we want to build. This is the starting point.
A few things we’re not going to do
No ads. Not now, not later, not in some roundabout way. We’d rather charge money for something good than sell your attention.
No guilt-trip notifications either. If you skip a week, that’s fine. We’re not going to spam you about your “broken streak” or whatever. And we’re being deliberate about keeping the feature set small. We’d rather have six things that work well than twenty things that kind of work.
What’s coming
We’re planning to ship small updates regularly rather than saving everything for big releases. Right now we’re working on better room chat, weekly focus reports, and improved group tools. We’ll post updates here as things ship.
Tell us what you think
We’re a small team and we’re early. If something is broken, confusing, or missing, we want to know about it. You can send us your thoughts through the feedback page. We actually read it, all of it.
Thanks for showing up early. Go get some work done.
